This lovely design contains a padded lion worked in couched silk gimp over a velvet cut silk ovale hill. The mane of the lion is worked in silk wrapped purls and silk gimps. Purl flowers decorate the edges of a silk wrapped parchment garland.

Tulip Slip
The tulip is a faithful reproduction of a 17th century slip in my own collection, applied to a piece of silk velvet and outlined with silk gimp. Slips were worked in this way and applied to hangings for beds and walls.
