Historically Inspired Needlework
This 18-month course is going to take a very deep dive into the whitework/cutwork found on English band samplers of the 17th century.
This 3-month course will show the basics of forming petals, leaves and berries from silk braids and then assembling them into stand alone stems or little bouquets.
This course explores using silk passementerie fibers to trim our counted work ornaments to give them a bit of pizzazz. The counted work uses a variety of stitches to work the sampler in soie d'alger threads.
This second series of five pincushions concentrates on Margaretha Helmin, the designer behind a group of three baroque embroidery pattern books published beginning in 1725. There will be an emphasis on learning to handle filament silk
The Volkstulpe ornament is a perfect way to try out a new finishing trim. An easy to apply length of coordinating chardon bouclette makes a textured edging to complement the cross stitched folk tulip.
Work an embroidered cabinet based on the 17th century models in a mixture of couching of unusual silk threads and stumpwork relief. The course teaches all the advanced stitches and provides over 900 pages of instruction. All materials provided.
