This first series of five pincushions concentrates on Rosina Fürst, the designer behind a celebrated group of four pattern books published beginning in 1666. There will be an emphasis on learning to handle filament silk.

This course explores using silk passementerie fibers to trim our counted work ornaments to give them a bit of pizzazz. The counted work uses a variety of stitches to work the sampler in soie d'alger threads.
This scissors case as a glove, is inspired by the multitude of 17th century sweet bags and cushions which use tent stitch to work a design and then a long gobelin stitch in gold or silver thread for the background, imparting a delicious shine.
